Fires, Failures, and Finales
On January 31st and February 1st Lacie raced in Las Vegas, Nevada for the third weekend of the annual Silver State Series. On Saturday, the Dustin Ash Motorsports crew finally got Lacie's car to respond to changes she was very competitive in practice and in her heat race. Unfortunately on Lap 2 of the main event, she experienced a part failure somewhere internal on the motor and quickly pulled off the track to avoid blowing it up entirely. The team worked vigorously Saturday night to get a new one installed and Lacie was ready to try her luck again on Sunday. It seems that the bad luck from the previous afternoon would carry over, however, as Lacie had an issue with the oil filter seal and ended up having her first "fire experience" on lap 1 of practice. She was able to quickly and safely get the car turned off and herself out of there luckily and the DAM crew got her car repaired once again and ready to go racing. She started deep in the field for the main event as a result of this misfortune in practice, but she drove a very smart race and ended up with a 10th place finish in the Pro Division. We will return to Las Vegas Motor Speedway on February 21st and 22nd for the finale of the Silver State Series and hopefully will be able to post some great results to close the winter season, after which we will focus our attention on preparing for the 2015 Late Model Season at Irwindale Speedway!
