ROOKIE OF THE YEAR MAKES "ROOKIE MISTAKES"
Saturday, October 18th, marked the final night of racing for the 2014 Irwindale Race Trucks season. Going into the race Lacie had already clinched Rookie of the Year and was sitting 3rd in the points. However this race was set to be 50 laps and DOUBLE points, which puts a lot of pressure on the line for all the drivers. The track was extremely fast throughout the weekend and qualifying times were extremely impressive. Lacie laid down a 19.300 second lap, which was a personal record for both her and the truck she was driving, which was good enough for 4th overall out of the 15 truck field. A 6 truck invert placed Lacie 3rd for the start of the race. On the initial start, the nerves seemed to have gotten to Lacie as she missed her shift and fell back to the 8th position. She settled into a groove and drove back to the 6th position and battled for the 5th spot for the majority of the race. On lap 47, Lacie made contact with the 5th place driver which sent her spinning into the turn 3 tire barrier. She was able to complete the race, but finished in the 12th position. This unfortunate turn of events left dropped Lacie to 5th in the season points. Despite being disappointed about the way it ended, she still had a great rookie season! Thank you all for your continued support of LPR. Lacie's next race will be INEX World Finals at VIR on December 5th-7th where she will compete for the Pro Division National Championship.
